1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Meet at the Stacks ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Meet at the Stacks is a book club management and personal reading tracker application. The Service allows users to create and join book clubs, track reading progress, nominate and vote on books, schedule meetings, and manage personal reading lists.

3. User Accounts

To use the Service, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

4. User Conduct

You agree not to use the Service to:

Violate any applicable laws or regulations
Infringe on the intellectual property or other rights of others
Upload or share harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts
Interfere with the proper functioning of the Service
Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our written consent

5. Age Requirements

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are 13 years of age or older. If you are between 13 and 17 years of age, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly permit children under 13 to register. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will terminate that account and delete associated data in accordance with COPPA.

6. No User-Generated Content

The Service does not support public user-generated content. Users cannot post public messages, upload images, or communicate with other users outside of their private book clubs. All book club activity (nominations, votes, meeting details) is private and visible only to verified members of that club. Club names and reading list titles you provide are stored privately and are not published publicly.

7. Your Data

You retain ownership of the data you provide, including your reading history and book club content. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store and display your data as necessary to operate the Service. We collect your email address, reading history, certain technical information (device type, IP address), and optionally a book club meeting location. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Meet at the Stacks and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Book information and cover images are provided by third-party sources (including Google Books) and remain the property of their respective owners.

9. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with or links to third-party services including Google Books API for book data and Bookshop.org for book purchases. We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party services.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Meet at the Stacks shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

12. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by email or by posting a notice in the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
